Overview
Take control of a skilled samurai warrior as you confront all manner of evil spirits in an oriental setting. The gameplay involves running into the screen, much like Space Harrier, but with the freedom to stop and run back. But it isn't just running and slashing wildly with your sword - there are also sections where you can (or must) jump onto floating platforms as you progress (particularly stage three where contact with the water below diminishes your health. Along the way there are various statues to destroy, each leaving a present behind which gives you health or those essential shurikens that allow you to hit enemies from a distance.

Comment
Trying to be Space Harrier crossed with Ninja Spirit, this game is an unique concept but fails on all counts. The action is often confusing and messy, forcing you to keep stopping and starting which seems very counter-intuitive. But you soon learn that this is the only way to make any progress. Making hits on the enemies when you don't have a shurikens seems more like a matter of luck than anything else, so you will probably spend much of this time just avoiding everything rather than getting in on the action. Unfortunately, the game just doesn't work. You have to give them some credit for the interesting idea, but it needs to be a whole lot slicker than this to be successful.
