Overview
Hudson Soft's Vol. 1 game, The Kung Fu was a graphical showcase for the release of the PC Engine, with half-screen high sprites and no clash or slowdown. The gameplay is particularly simple - the screen auto scrolls and you have to punch, kick and dodge the various enemies and obstacles that appear in your way.

Comment
The Kung Fu suffers from very shallow gameplay, playing more like a souped-up graphics demo than a full blown game, which it probably was at the time. The clumsy controls don't help either - however, once you get into the feel of it there is some enjoyment to be had. This game is more about showing what the PC Engine could do than anything else and because of its place in the history of the console, it gains a little more interest than it probably deserves. But because it is what it is, it's hard to truly dislike the game, and is certainly worth a look, especially for collectors.
