Overview
Poor Baby Jo. Out in the wild, all alone and surrounded by dangerous beasties, how will he ever get home? But never fear, as you jump and dodge your way through the many outdoor perils you can pick up bottles of milk to replenish you, rattles to throw and even supernappies that can increase your speed and grant invulnerability. Gift-wrapped boxes are wantonly strewn about the landscape, but be careful as although some contain items, others contain junk that will rain down on your baby-bald head.

Comment
Originating on the Commodore Amiga, Baby Jo is a fine example of why the Japanese were at the top of the gaming tree at this time. I find the graphical style extremely unappealing, particularly the grotesque titular baby, who not only looks pig ugly but also makes you want to punch him in the face after you've heard his scream for the umpteenth time. The gameplay isn't up to much either - it's hard to express in words exactly why it feels so amateurish; maybe it's the bland landscape or the notion that chucking enemies down randomly everywhere is good design. It's worlds apart from something like PC Genjin or New Adventure Island, and to add insult to injury the three (yes, only three) music tracks in the game get annoying really fast too. This game may have cut it on the Amiga where they were starved for decent cute platformers, but on the PC Engine it's just horrible.
